Ingredients
  

  • For the Hamburger Steaks
  • lbs ground beef 80/20 recommended
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs or crushed crackers
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • For the Gravy
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 can 10.5 oz cream of mushroom soup (or cream of onion)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Optional: sliced mushrooms or onions

Method
 

  1. Prepare the Beef Mixture
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined.
  3. Form the Hamburger Steaks
  4. Shape the mixture into evenly sized oval or round patties.
  5. Assemble the Bake
  6. Arrange the hamburger steaks in a greased baking dish in a single layer.
  7. Make the Gravy
  8. In a bowl, whisk together beef broth, cream soup, and Worcestershire sauce. Pour evenly over the patties.
  9. Bake
  10. Cover with foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 40–45 minutes, until the steaks are cooked through and the gravy is bubbling.

  12. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
