Ingredients
  

  • 12 oz pasta spaghetti, linguine, or penne
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter sliced
  • ½ cup reserved pasta water more as needed
  • ½ teaspoon salt or to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese optional
  • Fresh parsley optional, for garnish
  • Optional Protein
  • Crispy pan-seared chicken or shrimp

Method
 

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook pasta until al dente.
  2. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta.
  3. Return pasta to the warm pot and immediately add butter.
  4. Toss gently until butter melts.
  5. Slowly add pasta water while tossing to create a silky sauce.
  6. Season with salt and black pepper.
  7. Stir in Parmesan cheese if using.
  8. Serve immediately with fresh herbs or protein on top.
