Crispy Chicken Wonton Tacos

Crispy wonton shells filled with tender, saucy chicken and fresh toppings. A fun, restaurant-style appetizer or dinner made easy at home.

Ingredients
  

  • Chicken
  • 1 lb 450 g boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Sauce
  • ΒΌ cup teriyaki sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Wonton Shells
  • 12 wonton wrappers
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Toppings
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage or coleslaw mix
  • 2 green onions sliced
  • Fresh cilantro optional
  • Sesame seeds optional

Method
 

  1. Fry Wonton Shells
  2. Heat oil in a deep skillet. Shape wonton wrappers into taco shells and fry until golden and crisp. Drain on paper towels.
  3. Cook Chicken
  4. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook until fully cooked and lightly golden.
  5. Add Sauce
  6. Reduce heat and add teriyaki, soy sauce, hoisin, and sesame oil. Stir until chicken is evenly coated and glossy.
  7. Assemble
  8. Fill wonton shells with chicken and top with cabbage, green onions, and desired garnishes.
  9. Serve
  10. Serve immediately while shells are crisp.
