Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup 113 g unsalted butter, melted
  • ¾ cup 150 g granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup 50 g brown sugar
  • 1 large egg room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • cup 35 g unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup 125 g all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup 85 g melted dark or semi-sweet chocolate
  • Optional Add-Ins
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Chocolate chips
  • Crushed candy canes

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven
  2. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Mix wet ingredients
  4. Whisk melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Add egg and vanilla and mix well.
  5. Add chocolate
  6. Stir melted chocolate into the wet mixture until fully combined.
  7. Mix dry ingredients
  8. In a separate bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  9. Combine
  10. Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients just until combined.
  11. Chill (optional)
  12. Chill dough for 30 minutes for thicker cookies.
  13. Bake
  14. Scoop dough onto baking sheet and bake for 9–11 minutes, until edges are set and centers are soft.
  15. Cool
  16. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a rack.
