Cook the Noodles
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook egg noodles until just tender. Drain and set aside.
Cook the Beef
In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Drain excess fat. Add onion and garlic; cook until softened. Stir in tomato sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer 5 minutes.
Make Creamy Mixture
In a bowl, mix sour cream and softened butter until smooth.
Assemble
In a greased baking dish, layer half of the noodles, half of the sour cream mixture, half of the beef sauce, and half of the cheese. Repeat layers.
Bake
Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25–30 minutes, until bubbly and heated through.
Serve
Let rest 5–10 minutes before serving. Garnish if desired.
