Steak Burritos

Hearty steak burritos filled with juicy seasoned steak, rice, beans, and fresh toppings. A satisfying, restaurant-style meal made at home.

Ingredients
  

  • For the Steak
  • 1 lb 450 g flank steak or skirt steak
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt & black pepper to taste
  • For the Burritos
  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • cups cooked rice white or Mexican-style
  • 1 cup cooked black or pinto beans
  • 1 cup sautéed peppers and onions optional
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese
  • Salsa sour cream, or guacamole (optional)

Method
 

  1. Season the Steak
  2. Rub steak with olive oil, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Cook the Steak
  4. Heat a skillet or grill pan over high heat. Cook steak 3–4 minutes per side for medium-rare to medium. Rest 5 minutes.
  5. Slice
  6. Slice steak thinly against the grain.
  7. Warm Tortillas
  8. Heat tortillas until soft and pliable.
  9. Assemble Burritos
  10. Layer rice, beans, steak, peppers, cheese, and toppings. Roll tightly.
  11. Optional Toasting
  12. Toast burritos seam-side down in a dry skillet until lightly golden.
